For people living in Japan

Find a sensei you can keep going back to.

Living here, you don't have to fit everything into one session. Look for someone close enough to see again, and someone you can trust with your body.

Start with who you can reach.

It's easier to keep going when the salon is close to your home or work. The six sensei are in Kanagawa, Gunma, Aichi, Hyogo and Okayama.

“Seitai almost never puts everything right in one session. That's why you need the reassurance of someone you can keep going back to.”

Tadahiro Koto

How often should you go?

There's no single answer. At Kazuaki Kawada's clinic, many long-term clients come once a month. At Akihiro Nakamura's, the suggested rhythm runs from once or twice a week to once a month, depending on the course.

Those are their rhythms, not rules. After your first visit, ask your sensei what they'd suggest for your body.

“I want this to be somewhere you can keep coming back to, without strain.”
Kenta Yamanaka, Nagoya
“I’d like to be like the medicine box in your home, there when things get hard.”
Yoshikazu Yamashita, Okayama
“You don’t have to push. You don’t have to hurry.”
Ren Yajima, Yokohama

Good to know.

Do I need to speak Japanese?
Not to get in touch: you can write in English to any salon that takes email bookings. At the salon, Kazuaki Kawada can work in English. With the others, English is difficult, so please bring a translation app and use what Japanese you can.
Does it replace my doctor?
No. Seitai sits alongside your doctor. It isn't a nationally licensed profession in Japan, and if you are unwell, please see a doctor first.
How much does it cost?
Each salon sets its own fees. Among those that publish them, a standard first session runs from about ¥8,000 to ¥13,000. See the list.
What if no one is near me?
Solechika lists only the people Koto can vouch for, so there are gaps on the map. If no one is close, a single visit on a trip may be the place to start.

Book by email, directly with the salon.

Email bookings go straight to the salon you choose. There's no need to phone.

  1. Choose a sensei who takes email bookings.
  2. Email the salon with the details listed here.
  3. The salon replies to you.

Solechika introduces practitioners and does not take bookings or pass on messages.
